Happy 40th Birthday Brushy Land
by Brad Stone, November 2018

Thanksgiving is a time for appreciating what you’ve got. So today is the perfect day to express how thankful I am for this land. It was forty years ago just yesterday that my father bought this place – an outstanding decision at the top of a long list of Dan Stone’s outstanding decisions.

When I’m not here I enjoy thinking about this land; the trails, and the laughter, and the structures - like The Kitchen, and The Pole Barn, and of course Brushyhenge - a reflection of Dad’s creative mind; an intimate wooden structure whose only purpose in life is to gather humans so that we might share a moment together.

Brushy Land is where new abilities are learned, new passions discovered, new friends made. It’s where kids grow up, and adults play like children.

I sure miss those who are no longer with us, but I can see those of the past in those of the present - and it warms my heart. I am thankful to spend this day with you. And I look forward to many more shared moments on this land.
